I haven't read the book but here's the trailer Precious for those of you who have.

*Sidebar: Monique scares me. Mariah Carey looks very different from her usual glamourous persona. There's something contrived about the whole I-want-to-be-taken-more-seriously-as-an-actor-so-I-wore-minimal-makeup-for-this-role look. Does this really make a difference to the audience? Good acting will come across whether you are attractive or not...right? Lenny Kravitz fades into the background in the trailer. I didn't even notice him. I wonder how significant his role is?
I'll reserve judgment until I read the book and watch the film.

Well it seems that you have made your mind up before you seen the movie so why whine about it? Is it contrived? Does it make a difference? Your talking about it. People like your are what wrong with black women today. Your like a crab in a pot.

Firstly your comment implies that I'm not being objective about the film. However, your comment isn't objective either.
You obviously took my sidebar out of context and drew an illogical conclusion. Not to mention the last sentence of your comment is unfounded.
